Did Malacanang hijack the original Noynoy Aquino Facebook fan page?

As the saying goes, there is no honour among thieves. That is hardly surprising, considering we are talking about thieves in that one. What is ironic on the other hand is when a lack of honour is observed among the prayerful and self-described “good” among us.

Califorinia-based Ben Totanes and Betty Abrantes set up the ill-fated Facebook “fan page” of President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III, BSA3 at Facebook.com/Noynoy.Aquino to gather support to push for a rallying behind Noynoy’s candidacy shortly after the death of his mother former President Corazon Aquino in August 2009. They were then enlisted by Vicente Romano III head of Aquino’s New Media Bureau (and whose claim to fame also comes from being one of the pioneers of on-line petition campaigns in Philippine politics after mounting such an effort against then President Joseph Estrada in 2000) into the campaign.

After amassing more than 1.5 million fans by the time Noynoy was sworn in as President in June of 2010, Abrantes and Totanes are only now beginning to understand what we here in AntiPinoy.com have known since winds of Noynoy’s candidacy first started blowing in 2009 — that consorting with morons turns people into chumps.

And big chumps they are now, indeed. Reported GMA News TV:

[…] after the election, Romano allegedly recommended that the fan page be shut down. Instead, Totanes and Abrantes offered to turn over administration of the page to the then newly-formed Presidential Communications Group on the condition that comments critical of the administration would not be removed.

Sinabi ko sa kanila na pwede pa rin nila gamitin ito, nguni’t dapat pamalagiin itong ‘Feedback Forum’ ng sambayanang Pilipino, at huwag tatanggalin ang mga comments —pro or anti— ng mga tao,” he said.

(I told them that they can still use the fan page, as long as it’s maintained as a venue for feedback from the Filipino people. No comments must be removed, be they negative or positive.)

Coloma allegedly disagreed with Totanes’ conditions, and decided to set up a new official fan page, PresidentNoy at Facebook.com/PresidentNoy, in August this year.

And then…

On November 9, Totanes received an email directly from Facebook administrators saying that the BSA3 fan page “has been removed for violating (Facebook’s) Terms of Use.”

An official statement from Malacanang issued by Presidential Communications Group head Sec. Herminio Coloma declined to comment on whether Malacanang had a hand in the sudden closure of the original BSA3 page.

Then again, it seems this is yet another one of those things about the Second Aquino Administration that make you go hmmm…. According to AllFacebook.com, the number of “likes” on the fan page of the new PresidentNoy Facebook page suddenly jumped in number from about 100,000 as of the 8th of November to almost 1.6 million as of the 11th of November.

Timeline leading to the hijack of BSA3 on Facebook

It’s just another day and another gaffe, folks. Abangan ang susunod na kabanata.

A “fan page” is NOT the same as the REAL page of a REAL person…a person who has responsibilities of leading a nation. When a person is elected and takes on the mantle of responsibility, everything that comes out on ‘official pages’ are official statements. I can’t blame the Commmunications group to come up with their new ‘official’ page to serve specifically for ‘official announcements’. It’s a management prerogative. While Ben’s effort was admirable, it doesn’t mean that he’s PNoy or PNoy’s Communications group who will have to be accountable to whatever official statement will be announced. But I can’t blame Ben after all the effort he has done before…some pinoys want to continue the spirit of volunteerism driving Pnoy’s candidacy…it’s hard to be sidelined (especially when you want the glory of the by-line). But then again, will Ben be held accountable for whatever chaos will come out? Will he be like Mislang? I don’t think so. I think that after something chaotic will happen, Ben will be fence-sitting and blogging, free from the troubles of his native country; blogging and commenting his way from his four-cornered  cubicle in some spit-and-span ‘stateside’ corporate office.

You glossed over something very important —- Malacanang stole over 1 million “I like” votes away from the Totantes-site to the Coloma site.

Not cool… not cool at all. Mukhang may Garci-blood 👿 si Coloma, heh heh heh.

There is no glory in getting an idiot elected to the highest office of the land.  It is a shameful act and it is just as well that the page was high-hacked by the unscrupulous members of the juvenile government of N/A, that was to be expected.  Everything about his campaign was shady, what an ominous beginning an administration that this early has only gaffes and lies to show to the Filipino people., his financial officer died in a plane crash.  .  .

Makes me wonder whether these guys actually feel regret for their decision, or they’re just sour-graping. I hope it’s more of the former. But hell, they should’ve learned. Otherwise, their foundation for their decisions and ideals is weak.

The Noynoy Aquino administration is Very Sensitive to criticism. They don’t like to be criticized. Same as his Yellow Horde people. My original Facebook website was closed, also; hijacked by unknown people. Then, they sent: viruses, malwares, rootkits, trojan horses, etc…to my computer. I have to repair my computer three times this year…If you cannot stand the truth…then, at least, let the people you are serving, give them the right to read it…so, I’m not surprised to what happened to Noynoy Aquino’s FaceBook Website.

      F. Sionil Jose had written an open letter to President Benigno Simeon “Noynoy” Aquino for the son to find the answer that the spouse Cory did not.
